June 10th - Sea Day

June 10th Sea Day
It rained all day and as our captain “PJ” said it was a beautiful day to be indoors. Everyone got up at the same time I guess and the dining room was already closed so Lido buffet was packed. The people behind us waiting in the line were from Easley Lady Kay and knew Judy and Jim..small world. Also, the people sitting at the table behind us at dinner, one of them is Lindsay’s counselor at Blackwell. We went and checked out the parts of the ship we hadn’t seen, shopped and went to the naturalist speak on the wildlife we could see along the way. It is formal night so off we go.. Eddie and Tim (both from Indonesia) are bending over backwards for Lindsay and I think she is relaxing a bit about eating. After dinner we went to the production show in the lounge and came back to the cabin. Debbie brought a couple movies with ther that Lindsay could watch but we were all asleep in 15 minutes again. Again our captain having very profound messages said the oceans are constantly in motion and therefore so is the ship so we were gently rocked to sleep. I woke up and we are already in Stephens Passage where we will pick up our pilot at 7AM this morning .  It's 5 AM and daylight outside.   I am excited as there are breaks in the clouds and I can see blue sky and it is not raining but then we still have 6 hours further up this channel before we get to Juneau but I am keeping my fingers crossed. Also Debbie brought the little Travelocity Gnome and we have had fun taking picture of him in various places.

Sorry we are again having so much trouble uploading as I just found while posting this the others are on the main page of the blog..I will have to fix that when we get home...takes too much time here.

Friday June 8th

Lindsay and I at the Space Needle

It's a long way up!

We all work up this morning feeling much more rested and ready to start our only full day in Seattle. The Celebrity Infinity (otherwise known as Brand “X”) is docked across the street and there is an RCL ship at the dock we will leave from tomorrow at Pier 91. We had breakfast in the hotel then got a cab to the Space Needle. It is a beautiful sunny day at the moment although there are lots of fluffy clouds and the prediction is a 60% chance of rain today. The area around the Space Needle is beautiful and full of things to see with a Science Museum, park with sculptures and botanical gardens and the Chihully Glass Exhibit and Gardens. We walked through the botanical gardens then through the shops at the Space Needle then went to the Chihully Exhibit. This was beautiful and Lindsay loved it as much as Debbie and I did. She wasn’t interested in going to the top of the needle as she is not big on heights but even worse on elevators but I am not going to put it all on her. Just looking up and taking pictures made me dizzy and with the clouds moving past gave the illusion that it was moving…OMG! We took the Monorail back to downtown and went to a grocery store we were told about to get some things we wanted to carry on ship for Lindsay since she has the nut allergy. When we got back to the hotel we went to Pike’s again and Lindsay got to see the fish fly again and then we bought some flowers to take on the ship tomorrow. We watched the Infinity sail away and then headed to dinner. We made reservations at a place called Elliot’s on the water but Lindsay was not comfortable with the dining options so we left. Debbie and I got take out there and then got her something at another place and we ate in the hotel room. It worked out fine as we were trying to get organized and repacked for tomorrow. Lindsay and Debbie are all showered and in bed and I will be as soon as I finish this. This hotel is old and there is no internet but there is wifi in the lobby so I will post this in the morning when we go to breakfast. It was a fun day and I think Lindsay had a great time. She is sound asleep.

ATL-SEATAC

Thursday June 7th
Teresa and Lindsay pick me up at 5:45 AM and we head to the airport for our 8:10 AM flight to Seattle. Lindsay handled the 5:15 minute flight well and really didn’t get antsy until the last half hour but then we were in First Class and the plane was international level so the business class had the “almost” lie flat seats and personal TV’s so how bad could it be? Last of the Skymiles. We arrived to rain in Seattle and I don’t think sunglasses sell well in this city. We had a nice ride to the hotel and were able to check in when we got here so we changed her clothes to something warmer and headed across the street the Anthony’s at the port for lunch. By the time we finished the sun was out and Lindsay wanted to go to Pike’s Market. We walked up the hill and made it almost there before the bottom dropped out again and it was pouring. We were able to duck into a store and wait until it let up a bit to cross the street and get into the market area. Lindsay was excited as she got to see the fish fly at the market but she was also as excited about seeing all the beautiful flowers there as well. We headed back to the hotel to wait for Debbie to arrive. When she got there we had lots of laughs and then headed to the Spaghetti Factory which I called the Spaghetti Warehouse and I have no idea why. We turned in early as we were all on the time change catch up. Debbie said we would be up at 3 AM but I put a mark on my side because we all slept until 6:30 AM Seattle time.
